It’s not a secret that I’m a fan of the TV series 24. Jack Bauer saves the world with the help of a Palm Treo 650 smartphone – what’s cooler than that? The default ring tone in my Treo 650 is the same one used by CTU (Counter-Terrorist Unit) in the TV series. It’s actually the ring tone for Cisco IP phones.

Andy Carvin is currently in Accra, Ghana for a podcast/video blogging workshop. Naturally, he and Lebanese blogger Mustapha recorded a video blog using a Treo 650.

For each new expensive acquisition (such as the Treo 650), part of the fun is opening the box, savouring the “new gadget” smell, and generally showing off. While not as elegant as those found with Apple devices, Palm’s packaging has generally improved over the years.
We now present to you our box opening ceremony:

I remember the box that came with the Palm Pilot Pro. It was 3 times the size of the Treo box.

It’s alive!
The photos were taken with a Palm Zire 72, and as the date stamp shows, my Treo is now over four months old.

PalmOne is sponsoring Technorati’s mobile version of the Live 8 blog.
