It’s been a while since we’ve covered news from Palm. Last week, we heard that Palm held a round of layoffs, letting go as many as 200 employees. This is the second layoff since Jon Rubenstein took over last year, and this time the restructuring is due to “challenges facing our company and the industry”.

PalmDoc at Malaysian Medical Resources has secured another fantastic deal for doctors and medical students. This time around, the promo is for two smartphones from Palm, the Centro and Treo Pro. Apparently, the offer is so good that PalmDoc is not allowed to reveal the price or the bundle of goodies that come with the smartphones.

Just a bit of Palm news, so that you don’t think we’re turning all iPhone over here
First off, Sprint is rumoured to shortly release two new versions of the Palm Centro : Green and Rose. This was discovered by r0fl of the SprintUsers forum.

Despite being announced at around the same time as the iPhone 3G release, the Palm Treo Pro has been getting quite a bit of attention. Palm has released an update to the new Windows Mobile device, which is supposed to help with issues when connecting USB devices or with charging your battery.
In the meantime, the reviews have been coming in. Overall, the Treo Pro gains praise for its slim form factor, good looks and full features. Ah, if only it ran the new Palm OS Nova…
