Palm recently refreshed their website for the new year. It’s more streamlined and looks good, for a corporate website. Palm now has only 3 products on sale, all of them smartphones : The Treo Pro (Windows Mobile, GSM), Treo 800w (Windows Mobile, Sprint/EVDO) and the Centro (Palm OS Garnet, GSM).

Palm Inc is getting an early Christmas present. We have another 3 more weeks before the unveiling of the new Palm smartphones at CES. The additional US$100 million funding from Elevation Partners will give Palm some wind on its sails to promote the new smartphones.

Earlier this week, Palm said goodbye to the Treo 680 smartphone. Palm has put the Treo 680 as EOL (End of Life). The 680 was the successor to Palm’s groundbreaking Treo 600 and successful Treo 650 line. It had double the memory of the Treo 650 and a slightly modified form factor (i.e., minus the 90′s style antenna).

It’s been a while since we’ve covered news from Palm. Last week, we heard that Palm held a round of layoffs, letting go as many as 200 employees. This is the second layoff since Jon Rubenstein took over last year, and this time the restructuring is due to “challenges facing our company and the industry”.
