Nuvifone : A GPS smartphone from Garmin

Ever since the Apple iPhone came out, there’s been a steady stream of new phones with large touchscreens coming into the market. The latest is the nuvifone from GPS maker Garmin. The nuvifone is around the size of an iPhone. It has a 3.5 inch touch screen, HSDPA support, camera, integrated media player and of course GPS. No other details (including pricing) are available at the moment, but Garmin expects to release the phone in 3Q this year.

Say goodbye to Palm retail outlets

A few years ago, Palm seeked to emulate the success of Apple’s retail stores. Unfortunately, Palm just doesn’t have the strength of the Apple brand, and retail real estate is incredibly expensive. As a part of the ongoing consolidation effort by Palm’s new management, they are going to close down all 34 retail outlets. Eight of these are Palm-branded locations and 26 stores were inside Airport Wireless outposts.

Palm Wanda

Here’s a another piece of news from the Boy News Report (via Engadget). Just as “Drucker” will be the replacement for Treo 750, Wanda will be the replacement for Treo 500. Due to be released in September this year through Vodafone, Wanda will have :
- GSM/HSDPA
- QVGA (320×240) screen
- 2 megapixel camera
- 1200mAh battery (same as the Centro)
- Windows Mobile 6.1
