Upgrading iPhone to 2.0 and unlocking

There are 3 things which make the iPhone 3G better than the previous version : 3G, GPS and the 2.0 software upgrade. Owners of first generation iPhones can download and upgrade their devices for free to 2.0. Unless, of course, you need your iPhone to be unlocked, in which case you’re out of luck. Just a week after the iPhone 2.0 software was released, the iPhone Dev Team have come up with a jailbreaking and unlocking solution.

1 million 3G iPhones, 10 million App Store downloads

Just over a year ago, when Steve Jobs announced that Apple estimated 10 million iPhone sales, a lot of people were skeptical. After all, Apple was not even in the phone business. The 10 million figure As great a success as the original iPhone was, the iPhone 3G looks to be even more successful. In just 3 days, Apple has sold 1 million iPhone 3G units. The original iPhone took 74 days to reach the same goal.

iPhone day : Apple doing too much, all at once?

What a day it’s been so far, and it’s not over yet. The Internet is full of chatter about the new iPhone 3G and related services which are being launched today. Not only is Apple releasing the iPhone 3G is 20 countries, it is also:
- releasing the iPhone 2.0 firmware update for previous model iPhones
- launching MobileMe
- launching the App Store (in many more countries)
