Okay, it’s a bit contentious to say that a device is a Foleo killer, when it fact the Foleo never shipped. We know Palm has publicly stated that they are working on a new, better version of the Foleo. The Foleo was designed as a “smartphone companion” : lightweight but powerful enough to do basic tasks such as word processing, email and web browsing. With the Foleo 2 in limbo, what are our options? One new device which has taken laptop mobility to a new level is the ASUS Eee PC.

In a totally unexpected move, Palm CEO Ed Colligan has announced that they are shelving the Palm Foleo Mobile Companion! Colligan says that “the right path for Palm is to offer a single, consistent user experience around this new platform design and a single focus for our platform development efforts.”

Some potentially bad news coming in for Palm. Deutsche Bank analyst Johnathan Goldberg has released a short note which says that the Palm Foleo mobile companion device will be facing delays. The new device, which was expected to be released this week, is now expected to be available only in September or October.
