Palm Pixi

The “summer of smartphones” is over, but the smartphones keep on coming.

Palm has announced that the Palm Pixi will be launched on 15th November 2009. The Pixi, the entry level webOS smartphone, will be first available for the Sprint network. If you want a Palm Pre without a slider, this is the phone for you.

If you want a GSM version of a webOS phone, the Palm Pre is now available in Spain. The UK, Ireland and Germany will follow suit.

RIM, the market leader in smartphones, has been busy and has officially launched the Blackberry Storm 2. The original Storm received largely negative reviews — hopefully the Storm 2 with added WiFi, more memory and an improved Surepress virtual keyboard will do better.

Meanwhile, the iPhone exclusivity is ending soon in many countries (except for the US, that is). In the UK, Orange will start offering the iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS on 10th November. Previously, it was only available on O2.

Sony Ericsson is also releasing something soon — the “Rachael” is due on 3rd November. This will be the new Xperia smartphone, possibly running Android.
