Mobility Mind in Barcelona
I thought I’d do a quick update on my current business trip. As previously mentioned, I’m attending the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain. I’m not bringing my notebook computer along, so I’m totally dependent on my iPhone for communications and computing needs.
The iPhone performed well as a media device on the long flight over. Unfortunately, it was my wife who enjoyed using the iPhone. She caught up on the latest couple episodes of some of our favourite TV series – Burn Notice, Leverage and Life. That drained the iPhone’s battery down to 20%.
Luckily I had a couple of hours in transit at Amsterdam airport, where there was a free charging station. The recharge allowed me to watch the latest show by Joss Whedon, Dollhouse, on the flight from Amsterdam to Barcelona.
The iPhone definitely needs a removable battery — no amount of RDF ( reality distortion field) can convince me otherwise. So far many third party solutions have emerged to extend the battery life of the iPhone, but honestly none of them can be as small and as simple as a spare battery.
Another stroke of luck I had, is that my hotel has free wifi, saving me potentially thousands of dollars in data roaming fees.
The Mobile World Conference has been quite interesting so far, I’ll give my impressions in a later post.
