Smartphone sales drop for Palm
Just a three weeks away from the big announcement of their “new-ness“, Palm announced their latest financial results. Overall, things don’t look so good, with smartphone sales (Treo and Centro) dropping to just 599,000 over three months.
This is down 13% from the same period last year. The overall revenue from smartphone sales for Palm also dropped by 39% year on year. 2009 will be a tough year for all companies, but especially for Palm. They’ll be announcing new products in a market already full of good, competitive smartphones (e.g. the iPhone, Android G1, Blackberry Bold, HTC Touch HD, new Nokia N97).
I can’t wait for January 8 already!
