Android apps now on sale at Handango

The Android-powered T-Mobile G1 smartphone is doing decent sales right now. Since Google and its partners are going a different, “open” route for their applications, we will see several different App Stores for Android applications. One of the first third party App Store for Android comes from Handango.

Blackberry Bold versus Blackberry Storm versus Apple iPhone

Yes, we know that Apple beat RIM handily in the last quarter, in terms of smartphone units shipped. RIM is undeniably at the top of its game right now, bringing out very competitive devices like the Blackberry Bold and the new touch-screen Blackberry Storm.

Apple is now a (very successful) phone company

Two years ago, Apple had two businesses : Mac (computers) and Media (iPods + iTunes). Fifteen months ago, they added a third business : the phone. Fifteen months is not a long time, but we have seen the Apple iPhone exceed expectations in many ways. In their latest earnings call, Apple announced yet another record quarter: Macs up 28%, iPod up 8% in terms of units shipped. And yet, the runaway success is the iPhone, which generated almost 40% of Apple’s entire revenue for the quarter.

Sprint Centro smartphones get double memory, new colours

While we continue to wait (and wait, and wait) for the new Nova-based smartphones due next year, Palm is still banking on their successful Centro to bring in the dough. Just in time for the holiday season, Sprint and Palm are releasing two new colours for the Centro : “Olive green” and “Vibrant rose”.
