When Apple launched the iPhone 3G, there were a few raised eyebrows at the new, impossibly small power adapter. Well, it turns out that some of those adapters were not particularly well made. The metal prongs can break and remain inside a power outlet, possibly causing electric shocks. Apple has issued a recall notice for the power adapters.

Palm has reported their financial results for the last quarter. They sold a good number of Centro and Treo smartphones : 1,029,000 units. This is 49 percent higher compared to the same period last year. Revenue was also up 10%, however the company is still making a loss.

On September 9th, Apple introduced more than just updated iPods. It also started positioning the iPod touch and the iPhone as a credible portable gaming platform. After dominating the mobile music player scene, Apple is moving into the territory of established players like Nintendo and Sony.

A couple of days ago I upgraded my first generation iPhone to the new 2.1 firmware. I’m happy with it so far. While I don’t see a major performance improvement, I do appreciate new features like the Genius recommendation engine. I also have not experienced any crashes or slowdowns. All applications work as normal. At the time, since the 2.1 upgrade did not re-lock my iPhone, I chose not to run QuickPwn or the Pwnage tool to jailbreak.
