I’ve just started my two-week break from work, which coincides with the Eid celebration here. I’m taking the family back to my home town. This time around, we decided to leave our notebook computers behind. My iPhone will be my sole computing and communications device.

For the longest time, I have been receiving weekly email newsletters from eReader. In each newsletter, they highlight the latest ebook releases and promotions. At the end of the newsletter, they usually gave out a promo code which gives discounts on ebook purchases. Based on customer feedback, eReader is changing this mechanism and they are launching a new system called eReader Rewards.

When firmware 2.0 came around for the iPhone, it wasn’t such an easy decision for me or most of my colleagues to upgrade. Part of the reason was that we would lose the ability to send and receive MMS (Multimedia Messaging Service) via a jailbroken app called SwirlyMMS.
