Must read : Crooked Little Vein by Warren Ellis
I have to admit, it’s been a while since I last found a book so compelling that I have to finish it in a couple of days. Well, over the weekend I read Crooked Little Vein by Warren Ellis, “cover to cover”.
Warren Ellis started off in comics, following in the footsteps of many other successful British exports like Alan Moore, Grant Morisson, and that other comics writer turned book author, Neil Gaiman. The work of Warren Ellis is more edgy than mainstream. His most famous work is Transmetropolitan, which I loved. I heartily recommend Crooked Little Vein. Be warned that there are adult situations and some disturbing graphic imagery — if you have a vivid imagination, there could be a problem.
About the book :
A burned–out private detective is enlisted by an army of presidential goons to retrieve the U.S. Constitution … the real one. Following in the steps of Neil Gaiman, CROOKED LITTLE VEIN is packed with action, adventure, and a wild cast of characters that are sure to appease not only hardcore comic fans, but a whole new slew of mystery readers waiting for a surprisingly surreal treat that infuses the madness of the graphic–novel world.
