Sprint Treo 800w

The latest smartphone from Palm, the Treo 800w has a lot going for it, except of course for the unfortunate timing of its launch. Released around the same time as the Apple iPhone 3G, it did not get half the attention that most Treo smartphones normally get. Reading ebooks with eReader on iPhone 2.0

A few months back, I sent an email to Fictionwise (my ebook vendor of choice), asking if they had plans to support the iPhone. The answer was “yes”. Now that the new iPhone 2.0 software is out, along with the new Apple App Store came eReader. I have been using eReader on my iPhone for a few days now, and I’m quite satisfied with it.

Upgrading iPhone to 2.0 and unlocking

There are 3 things which make the iPhone 3G better than the previous version : 3G, GPS and the 2.0 software upgrade. Owners of first generation iPhones can download and upgrade their devices for free to 2.0. Unless, of course, you need your iPhone to be unlocked, in which case you’re out of luck. Just a week after the iPhone 2.0 software was released, the iPhone Dev Team have come up with a jailbreaking and unlocking solution.

Palm’s response to iPhone : a cheaper Centro + a Windows Mobile Treo

The past few days must have been very difficult for all mobile phone players not named Apple. You could hardly avoid into stumbling into iPhone news. Palm took the opportunity to do a couple of things : launch the much-rumoured Palm Treo 800w, and introduce a lower price for the Centro.
