So what happens when the writer for Treo Today no longer owns a Treo? I have decided to make a few changes to the format and content of this website. Naturally, there will be a bigger focus on the iPhone (since that’s my main phone now) but I will also continue to provide coverage of the Treo smartphone world. Since this is no longer a Treo-specific website, there’s a new name : Mobility Mind.

I wrote a version of this post about a week ago, but Wordpress somehow ate it. Long time readers of Treo Today know that I am a big fan of ebooks, and read (or used to read) a lot of ebooks on my Treo. Since getting my iPhone, I have been more an audio and video consumer than a reader of ebooks.

The new Centro smartphone has proven to be a winner for Palm. The low-cost smartphone has help Palm boost their sales to 833,000 units and US$275.4 million revenue in the last quarter. However, since the margins are lower for the Centro, Palm still made a loss of US$31.5 million during the same period.

It’s been an interesting journey personally for me, as a Palm OS and Treo smartphone user. I started back in 1998 with a Palm Pilot Personal, and ten years later, I had a Treo 680. Throughout that period, I came to depend on the Palm (or Treo) as a “life organizer” and “backup brain”. There’s something to be said about loyalty and familiarity, but there comes a time when you just have to let go and move on.
