After what seems like forever, Palm has finally introduced the Treo 755p for Verizon. Unlike the Dark Blue and Burgundy versions available for Sprint, this one will be a new colour : “Azure Green”. The Verizon Treo 755p will have slightly different / updated feature set compared to other Palm OS Treo smartphones :
* Integrated Google Maps built into the ROM
* Treo Voice Dialing software included in box

The bad news at Palm continues. The company already announced a worse-than-expected financial performance for the last quarter. The Wall Street Journal (subscription required) has an article on the new management, headed by former Apple executive Jon Rubinstein. Rubinstein, along with Palm CEO Ed Colligan, have been busy : “(they) cleaned up the company’s product plans, overhauled its engineering staff, and made several strategic new hires.”

This is straight from the horse’s mouth. Alongside the announcement for the AT&T Treo 680 update today, Palm has promised a firmware update for unlocked, unbranded Treo 680 smartphones as well. According to the Palm Blog : “The unlocked GSM Treo 680 software update will be available soon. Palm is offering a service that will send registered users an email informing them when the update is available. To register, go to http://palm.com/680update and sign up.”
