Apple iPhone release

Looks like the Apple iPhone is doing just fine in Europe. Although O2 in the UK cited “hundreds of thousands” of iPhones sold, they never released any real figures so far. In France, Orange has sold 30,000 iPhones in the first 5 days. 20% of these, interestingly enough, are unlocked. Almost half of the iPhone buyers are new to Orange.

In France, you can buy the iPhone for 399 euros with a two-year contract, or 749 euros unlocked. In Germany, T-Mobile is no longer legally bound to sell the iPhone unlocked, which was made available at an exorbitant price anyway.
