SMS for everyday use
November 19, 2007 – 8:34 am | by AziziHow do you use SMS every day? The normal way is peer to peer, i.e., to exchange messages with your friends and family. There’s also a growing number of new text services that make life just a little bit easier. In Malaysia, we are used to a lot of different premium services such as TV voting, breaking news updates and even the ability to check your traffic records (ie. summons) by SMS. Russell Buckley of Mobhappy shares the success story of yournextbus in the UK.
Yournextbus allows you to send an SMS to find out when the next bus is arriving. When I was studying in the UK, buses ran pretty much like clockwork, but I guess traffic has increased by then. Yournextbus has received a lot of usage, receiving over 2 million SMS from the public.
