My most-used Mobile Web Sites

My Treo 680 smartphone comes with Blazer, a pretty good (but not fantastic) web browser. It works with most web sites, but Blazer really shines with sites made specifically for mobiles. Here are the top 10 mobile web sites that I use regularly.

1. Gmail (mail.google.com)
One of two email services that I check on a daily basis. I prefer the Mobile web version compared to the Java Gmail client or even downloading email directly to my Treo 680 via POP/IMAP. This way I don’t have to keep track of what I have or have not read, and I also have the ability to search through over 9,200 messages.

2. Yahoo Mail (my.m.yahoo.com)
Yahoo’s Mobile Web mail is quite fast and easy to use.

3. Google Search (www.google.com)
Still my favourite search engine.

4. Google Docs (docs.google.com/m)
I can view and edit word processing and spreadsheet documents without downloading to the Treo 680.

5. Flickr (m.flickr.com)
I can view my own photos as well as those of my friends and family. Unfortunately, there’s still no way to upload photos directly from the Treo, so I upload to Flickr via MMS instead.

6. eBay Mobile (m.ebay.com)
Search, track auctions and bid online. I bought my Treo 680 via the eBay Mobile interface.

7. eTrade Mobile (wireless.etrade.com)
I don’t do any trading, but I do transfer my Paypal money to an eTrade account. I use the mobile version to check my balances.

8. Facebook Mobile (m.facebook.com)
I use this to update my status (as in, “Azizi is … busy writing a blog post“). Facebook Mobile is also great to check on the latest updates from my friends.

9. YouTube Mobile (m.youtube.com)
There’s always something entertaining on YouTube ;-) Blazer’s integration with the Kinoma Streaming application makes it easy to view videos.

10. Google Reader (www.google.com/reader/m/)
Google Reader has a great mobile interface. You can easily navigate using the number keys to jump between articles. It also remembers what you have read, starred or shared.

Bonus Mobile Web Site :

11. TreoToday Mobile (www.treotoday.net)
Of course, I have to plug my own blog. TreoToday Mobile shows the latest blog post and links to the previous 10 posts, as well as to the complete archive.

After compiling the list above, I noticed that 4 out of 10 are Google owned services. Google really has embraced the mobile web in a big way; I look forward to more companies following their lead.

So, what mobile web sites do you find useful?
