3 billion mobile phones vs 1 billion PCs
It’s a staggering number, any way you want to look at it. Just eight years ago the Internet was the big thing everyone talked about. Today, we have 1.2 billion Internet users worldwide, running on 1 billion PCs. Yet these numbers are eclipsed by the fact that there are 3 billion mobile phones in use today.
These statistics were shared during Google Analyst Day by Vint Cerf (Chief Internet Evangelist) and Alan Eustace (VP of Engineering).
How far we’ve gone in such a short period. It’s an exciting time for mobile fans, as we watch companies like Apple, RIM and Palm duke it out against giants like Nokia, Sony Ericsson, Motorola, and the Korean companies.
