Adjusting to my Treo 680
Yesterday was my first full day with my new Palm Treo 680 smartphone. So far I’m quite satisfied with the performance. The Blazer web browser feels much faster than the one on the Treo 650. Websites download really fast compared to before.
I am just getting used to the extra available space that I have in the Treo’s memory. I went from 5MB free to 51MB free. It’s good to have that extra breathing room.
I am still constantly frustrated by the new keyboard layout. I keep pressing the power button when I mean to press Menu. And I keep pressing Menu when I want to press shift! Because of this, I am actually typing slower now. I guess it will take time to get used to it. Plus, I haven’t figured out yet what to do with the green key.
My battery is all screwed up. I spent the whole day yesterday with the battery at 99%. Sounds great, but of course that’s too good to be true. I tried to recalibrate the battery last night. I got the same result as when I initially received the phone, i.e. the Treo would restart at the orange Palm logo with the black bar at the bottom, then immediately switched off. This morning, I plugged in the Hotsync/Charge cable, removed and replaced the battery, and then it woke up again.
Strange, but still very frustrating.
