1 million iPhones
September 11, 2007 – 4:56 pm | by AziziSome people said that they would never sell that many, and some said that they would reach the milestone in 1 month. Yesterday, Apple announced that they had sold the magical millionth iPhone. It took them 74 days. Apple tellingly did not say “shipped” in their press release, so I assume that 1 million iPhones have indeed been paid for.
How does this compare against the Treo? Since the original Handspring Treo 600 was introduced in June 2003, Palm has sold almost 8.5 million Treos. This means that iPhone users are 11% of the size of Treo users. If Apple succeeds in selling 10 million iPhones by end of next year, then Palm is in real danger of becoming irrelevant.
