Verizon Treo 700w/700wx/700p update problems

If you were taking your sweet time installing the latest update for your Verizon Treo 700w/wx or Treo 700p smartphone, that was a smart move. Palm has received many reports from customers who had problems with data network connectivity after the update. As a result, they have pulled the update from their website.
This is a huge blow to Verizon customers who have waited a long time for the problems with their Treos to be fixed (especially with the Treo 700p). If you are one of the unlucky ones who face problems with your Verizon Treo, Palm advises that you go to the nearest Verizon Wireless outlet for support.

The updater failed on my 700p, resulting in an endless cycle of reboots. Had to send it to Palm for exchange. Beware! It was not a case of the update being interrupted or power failing on the device.

I update a 700p for user with Treo700pVerizonDesktopUpdater-rev1. After about 30 minutes into the update process where it said Executing Updates…, the phone went into endless reboot loop. It displayed the Access Power screen, Palm logo, then Verizon Wirless “Welcome”, and then reboot again. I finally had to send the phone back, Palm tech support said 5 - 7 days. Hey, who can live without cell phone for that long. Therefore, I setup for the Advanced Exchange Service which required my credit card and 2 - 3 business days. It is absolutely bad update. By the way, the phone info display the software version: Treo700p-1.10-VZW even it is not finish. What an half ass job. I did my 750W without problem, lucky I use AT&T. I watch too much TV commercial, hey Verizon where are those network people that’s suppose to be walking behind me.
