More applications for Palm Foleo

With the Palm Foleo mobile smartphone companion rumoured to be released on August 22nd, 2007, Palm has announced a couple more third party applications for the device. The two applications are blogging services from Six Apart, and a full suite of new security, entertainment and productivity applications from TealPoint Software.

Happy birthday, SMS!

In case you missed it, yesterday, 23rd July 2007 was the 15th anniversary of text messaging. It was back in 1992 that the first SMSC (Short Message Service Centre) was released by a company called Acision. Fast forward a decade and a half later, the amount of text messages sent is simply staggering. For my home country Malaysia, by my rough estimation we send 160 million SMS each day — that’s 6 SMS for each person in the country, or around 8 per each mobile phone user.

Treo software updates

Palm has released several minor updates for a few of their Treo smartphone series.

If you have the Palm Treo 750 smartphone (AT&T edition), there is a new
audio alert update. The update fixes a problem of audio alerts being lost when too many applications are using the sound driver. You can download the update from the Palm support website or Over The Air (OTA) from your Treo by going here.
