Gizmo Project on TreoFor once, Palm Treo smartphones get preferred treatment! It’s a pleasant surprise to find out that both Gizmo Project and Opera Mini 4 beta are available on Palm as one of the early platforms.

I don’t travel as much as I used to, but the Treo smartphone is an excellent travel companion. The built-in World Clock application works great as an alarm clock, time calculator and can show you at a glance the current times at 3 different cities of your choosing. There are many useful third-party applications to have on your Treo when you are on the move. Two which are newly updated are SplashTravel Professional and Trip Boss 3.0.

It didn’t take Palm’s new owners long to make some changes in the organization.   According to an article in News.com, Palm has announced an unspecified number of job cuts.  Some people have been asked to leave immediately, while some will undergo some time for transition.  Some of the job cuts are in the development group, which probably means the new owners want to bring in some new blood.  Hopefully this will not impact delivery of new products this year.

What is the Palm Gandolf?

Another day, another rumour. Just as some of us recover from the disappointment of Palm Foleo, the smartphone companion, a new device appears. At first, a grainy black and white image of the Palm “Gandolf” did not look very credible. Now, a new, colour image has surfaced. The new, still-blurry photo shows a Windows Mobile smartphone with a new form factor that we have not seen before.
