Palm sells 750,000 Treo smartphones
June 29, 2007 – 6:19 am | by Azizi
Palm has reported their latest financial results for the last quarter, which ended 1st June 2007. The number of Treo smartphones sold was a record high — over 750,000 units, up 43% from the same period last year. However, revenue for the whole fiscal year (i.e., twelve months ending 1st June 2007) fell slightly, and net income dropped drastically from US$336.2 million to just US$56.4 million.
From a layman’s perspective, the numbers don’t look too good for Palm. While they are shipping more Treo smartphones than ever before, that could be just the sign of an expanding market. The reduction in net income is indeed worrying; hopefully the new management can take some action to address the financial problems (other than just firing people, of course).
