Gizmo Project on TreoFor once, Palm Treo smartphones get preferred treatment! It’s a pleasant surprise to find out that both Gizmo Project and Opera Mini 4 beta are available on Palm as one of the early platforms.

Gizmo Project is a free, multi network, instant messaging (IM) client application. Supported networks include AIM (AOL), MSN, Yahoo, iChat (Apple) and Jabber in addition to Gizmo itself. You can configure multiple accounts, and best of all, Gizmo Project works in the background, so you can get an audio, vibration or visual alert whenever you received a message. You can download Gizmo Project directly from your Treo by going to http://gizmoproject.com/treo on your Treo’s Blazer (or Opera) web browser.

Opera Mini 4 beta virtual mouse

Opera Mini is the a web browser that’s continually being introduced to new mobile devices. The latest beta for version 4 is also available for direct download to your Treo. Opera Mini 4 has a great “virtual mouse” feature that you can use to browse a web site in any direction. I used it for a few hours and it’s been pretty stable so far. You still need to have a Java Virtual Machine installed in your Treo to run Opera Mini.
