Another day, another rumour. Just as some of us recover from the disappointment of Palm Foleo, the smartphone companion, a new device appears. At first, a grainy black and white image of the Palm “Gandolf” did not look very credible. Now, a new, colour image has surfaced. The new, still-blurry photo shows a Windows Mobile smartphone with a new form factor that we have not seen before.

The Palm Gandolf is rumoured to run Windows Mobile Standard (formerly known as Smartphone Edition, i.e. no touchscreen support). The image shows the device sporting the new Palm logo, as well as Vodafone branding, which probably means that this a GSM device. Gandolf is an entry-level device starting at US$200.
Sure, we have been asking for a slimmer, cheaper Treo, but does it have to be this ugly?
