Treo 680 Treo 700p Security Patch

Palm has released official security updates for the Palm Treo 680 and Treo 700p smartphones. What’s the update for? According to Palm, this is the problem that the update fixes :

“When the Treo 680 smartphone password protection is enabled, the password protection can be partially circumvented by running the Find feature while on the “Make Emergency Call” screen. This would allow a malicious user to view a list of search results from the Treo 680′s built-in applications such as Contacts, Calendar, Tasks, Memos and Email.”

There is a single update for both the Treo 680 and the Treo 700p. The file size is 142kb; you can download it over the air or install it through your desktop. More info on the update is at the Palm website (for the Treo 680, for the Treo 700p).
