A few years ago, I bought a second hand Psion Series 7. I loved the Psion Series 7. It was a notebook replacement, small and light. It had an excellent keyboard, a large touchscreen, good battery life, and good expansion capability (CF card and a PCMCIA card). Is it a smartphone? Is it a PDA? Well, as it turns out, it’s neither. The details are not out yet, but here’s some information derived from the Palm blog RSS feed. The new product from Palm will be called Palm Foleo. It’s a UMPC-like device and the device category is a “smartphone companion”.
Hot off the press — Palm will announce a new product at the D: All Things Digital conference in Carlsbad, California today (May 30th 2007). Palm founder (creator of the Palm Pilot PDA and Treo Smartphone) Jeff Hawkins is set to host a live video webcast today (Wednesday May 30) to describe the new category of mobile device.
