Palm going Linux, leaves ALP to gather dust

At Palm Inc’s Analyst Day, CEO Ed Colligan confirmed all the speculation about Palm developing its own OS. Apparently the still-unnamed project has been going on in Palm “for years”, which probably means they never really believed in Palmsource/ACCESS and their ACCESS Linux Platform. Leaving the issue of ALP with no customers, this is great news for Palm and fans.

Sara Flickr

For the past few months I have been trying to upload photos to my Flickr account from my Treo 650.  With Flickr, you can upload by email.  A unique email address is assigned to you.  Enter the title of the photo in the Subject Field, and notes in the text field.   Click send, and in a minute or two the photo will appear in your email account.

If you have an ageing Treo 650 like mine, it should be no surprise that your Treo has its share of chips and scratches. Well, you can do something about that. Geekrescuer bought a replacement housing for his Treo 650 on eBay. He’s kind enough to share with us how he changed his Treo 650 housing, and clear photos and directions on how to do it. You don’t need a lot of tools to do this on your own. Geekrescuer was thoughtful enough to provide photos of the required Philips and T5 Torx screwdrivers as well.

Palm Treo 750 Pocket PC Phone (QWERTY)
Palm has launched the entry-level Treo 680 smartphone in two South American countries, and the high-end Treo 750 in two European countries. The Treo 680 is now available in Ecuador with PORTA, and in Brazil with Claro.
