Uploading to Flickr using your Treo and MMS

For the past few months I have been trying to upload photos to my Flickr account from my Treo 650.  With Flickr, you can upload by email.  A unique email address is assigned to you.  Enter the title of the photo in the Subject Field, and notes in the text field.   Click send, and in a minute or two the photo will appear in your email account.

Sounds simple, right?  Not so much.  I tried sending email using Versamail and my Gmail account, but each time I received an error saying that no attachment was included.  Somehow, the photos would not get uploaded when sending to Flickr.  This is Flickr-specific, because I had no problems when sending to other email addresses.

I never found a solution via Versamail and Gmail, but it turns out there was a simpler solution for what I wanted to do.  My mobile operator allows sending MMS to email, something which I never tried before.  It really is as simple as it sounds.  Instead of sending MMS to another mobile number as usual, all I need to do now is enter the unique Flickr email address in the To: field on Messaging, and it just works!

You can view my Flickr photos here.  The latest few are sent via MMS.

Strange. I don’t have any problem blogging via email using Versamail. Then again I use my webhosting’s pop mail and not crappy TMNut or Screamyx.

This works great. I don’t have email set up on my phone but wanted to email pictures to Flickr. Thank you!
