Treo 700p IR (Infra Red) update
One of the most novel things about the original Palm Pilot PDA was infra red (IR) support. With IR, you could exchange business cards and files with most other PDA users. IR could even be used to connect your Palm to a phone to act as a dial-up modem. Modern PDAs and smartphones almost all have Bluetooth these days, so IR is relegated to the back seat. If you still use IR, and you have a new Treo 700p smartphone (both Sprint and Verizon versions), then make sure you get the RAW IR software update.
According to Palm, the software update is designed to resolve an issue when using the IR port on Treo 700p smartphones with certain 3rd party devices. You have the option to either download the update directly to your Treo 700p, or use the more traditional Hotsync method.
