“River of news” on your Treo
My primary RSS reader/aggregator is Bloglines. The best feature of Bloglines is that it automatically keeps track of what I read, so there’s no duplication when I switch between my Treo and my iBook. The main problem with most RSS readers is the sheer volume of posts – if you miss a day, then it can get overwhelming. What if you just want the latest news? The Godfather of RSS, Dave Winer, has something new up his sleeve. He has come up with a “river of news” style view, which is a great way to view RSS feeds on mobile devices such as the Blackberry and the Treo.
Each “river” is updated every 10 minutes, to show the latest items on each site as it is posted. The river contains 250 items, with the oldest item dropping off as the new ones are added. Here are some examples :
- New York Times
- BBC
- CNET News
I like how it works so far. Now someone needs to come up with a river aggregator!
