Treo 650 SmartPhone GSM (unlocked)

During last week’s quarterly earnings announcement, Palm CEO Ed Colligan revealed that Palm, Inc has halted shipments of new Palm Treo 650 smartphone to Europe. Last Saturday, the European Reduction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) legislation came into force. The Treo 650 does not meet the requirements for the new legislation. The good news is that a replacement would come soon – possibly meaning an October launch. Whether the replacement will be the rumoured Treo “Lennon”, “Nitro”, “Lowrider” or “Hollywood” is anyone’s guess at this point.  Palm has given assurance that there are enough Treo 650 units in Europe until the replacement arrives, although it’s probably a good idea to wait until the new model comes to make a purchase.
