Mobile phone signals excite the brain
We’ve heard many of these studies and debates on whether the mobile phone is harmful/not harmful to your health. The latest study in this field was recently published by Italian researchers in Annals of Neurology. The study shows that mobile phone emissions excite the part of the brain cortex nearest to the phone, although they remain unclear on the harmful/not harmful part of the story.
Dr. Paolo Rossini and his colleagues of Fatebenefratelli hospital in Milan tested 15 young male volunteers using a GSM 900 cell phone for 45 minutes. In 12 of the 15, the cells in the motor cortex adjacent to the cell phone showed excitability during phone use but returned to normal within an hour. The cortex is the outside layer of the brain and the motor cortex is known as the “excitable area” because magnetic stimulation has been shown to cause a muscle twitch.
I guess the jury is still out whether using your Treo would harm you in the long run. Like everything else, I would advise using in moderation.
