UK Army Everest Expedition

The British Army is trying something new – they are subtly promoting themselves via mobile phones. An expedition of Army mountaineers are currently attempting to climb Mount Everest. The progress of the team is monitored via a website (complete with a blog and video podcast), and they are publishing video updates to mobile phones.

I like the fact that this is not “in-your-face” advertising, but rather a cool way to educate people on the types of activities that the British Army does. Unfortunately, the mobile video player only works on Symbian phones at the moment.
