Using web-based applications with Treo 650
One of the distinct advantages of the Palm Treo 650 smartphone (and also the Treo 700w) is the wireless connectivity. Since fast, always-on unlimited wireless data plans available from most carriers at (almost) reasonable prices, it makes sense to make use of more and more online applications. With a little bit of effort, these online applications could even supplement or displace the Palm OS applications you have on your Treo.
Jeff Kirvin discusses this approach in the TreoCentral Discussion Forums. With online services, he manages to keep the memory usage of his Treo 650 to just a little over 50%. Yet by using Sharklinks, he has 88 applications on his launcher. Jeff recommends several web-based applications to replace Palm OS based ones. He provides a good list of applications that he uses, for example : Bloglines in place of Quicknews, Gmail Mobile in place of Versamail.
So if you are already subscribed to an unlimited data plan, this could be a great way to maximize your return on investment.
