Treo Tip : Cleaning up your MIDI Ringtone database

March 30, 2006 – 3:25 pm | by Azizi

palmOne Treo 650 PDA Phone (Cingular)

If you try out a lot of ringtones on your Palm Treo 650 smartphone, you may notice that your MIDI Ring Tones file can get quite large. Even deleting the ring tones manually may not help. Here’s how to fix it:

1. Send every personal ringtone via Bluetooth to your PC
2. Erase the MIDI Ringtones file in memory
3. Reset the Treo. This will make the default file come back.
4. Send every ringtone saved in step 1 to the Treo via Bluetooth

Of course, you’ll need either a PC with an internal Bluetooth radio, or use an external Bluetooth dongle. 1src member belangermtl reduced the size of his MIDI Ring Tone file by 90% (from 3MB down to 300kb).
