Palm, Inc has announced good results for their second quarter of financial year 2006, with quarterly revenues of US$444.6 million (up 18%) and a 36% US market share for converged devices (i.e. smartphones like the Palm Treo 650). Possibly the most exciting statement is from Ed Colligan, Palm CEO : “we’ll announce three additional new smartphones during calendar year 2006.”

That’s four new smartphone models (including the previously-announced Palm Treo 700w, running Windows Mobile). This bit of news tallies with previous rumours of the Palm Treo 700p (successor to the Treo 650, running Palm OS), and the new “Hollywood” (3G/UMTS model) and “Lowrider” (entry-level model).

Today’s press release also marks the first time that Palm names the Windows Mobile smartphone as “Palm Treo 700w”.
