10 Things I can’t do without my Treo
November 23, 2005 – 12:01 am | by AziziThe past 18 hours have been very frustrating. The day got off to a bad start as I dropped my Palm Treo 650 smartphone … into the toilet bowl! I never truly realized how much I depended on my Treo until today.
The first thing to do when you accidently dunk your Treo 650 in the water is, of course, don’t panic. Easier said than done. I have removed the battery, SIM tray, stylus and cover and left the Treo to dry – hopefully there’ll be good news tomorrow.
In the meantime, here’s what I discovered what I couldn’t do today:
1. Tell time : I don’t wear a watch
2. Look up contacts
3. Be reminded of meetings and appointments
4. Be contacted by my boss – he had to call my colleague’s mobile to get to me
5. Read ebooks
6. Take notes during meetings (had to resort to pen and paper)
7. Listen to podcasts on the drive home (had to listen to … the radio)
8. Take photo to remind me of my parking space
9. Call or SMS my wife to coordinate dinner plans
10. Check email while I’m away from my desk
It’s scary to think of how much I depend on my Treo 650. Financial-wise, I can’t afford to replace the Treo right now. Hopefully the Treo will recover without a glitch. Let’s see what news tomorrow will bring… stay tuned!

Arrgh. Hopefully it was in a flushed toilet bowl
Anyway glad to hear it worked out. Get egrips. Won’t drop them so readily now
See my egrips review

Today for the first time I put my Treo in the back pocket of my jeans. When I went to the bathroom and pulled up my jeans, it must have slipped out. I didn’t notice and it went straight down the waste pipe when I flushed. I spent 2 hours searching for it around the house. I called it 20 times. Then I used the same bathroom and when I flushed the water almost ran over! I put 2 and 2 together and used a coat hanger to feel around in the toilet pipe. Low and behold…there it was!!
Luckily I had a spare so I’m back in “business”.
I love my Treo. I especially love the ability to play games on it, such as Mah Jong and Texas Hold ‘Em. It takes the sting out of long waits in airports and doctor’s offices!
