Jeff Hawkins is known as the father of Palm, and his story of creating the original Pilot 1000, and subsequently Palm Computing, is legendary.

However, since his last "hit" product, the revolutionary Treo 600, Hawkins has been pretty quiet. He has spent his time over the past few years Hawkins have been working on some very fascinating research into how the human mind works (more in his book On Intelligence).

It turns out that he has quietly been at work on a third business for Palm, after the PDA (e.g. the LifeDrive) and the smartphone (e.g. the Treo 650). In a
recent interview, Hawkins revealed :

"There is a third business that I've been working on but I'm not going to tell you what it is. It's in mobile computing. It's something different and it's in its early stage. We have three businesses at PalmOne. One you don't even know about, which is just a child. Another is the teenager and the other one is the mature 45-year-old."

Don't keep us in suspense for long, Mr Hawkins!
