Here's a useful web-based service from iConv. It allows you to simply
create a Palm doc file from a text file. You can upload any text file from your desktop computer (like that new Harry Potter that you got from, ahem, a friend), set the compression, and it will convert automatically to a Palm pdb file. You can then view the file on your Treo, using any DOC reader such as eReader and Mobipocket.

The service is quick, and hassle-free. And free, too.
