Here’s another progressive way to use camera phones like the Palm Treo 650. The Andrew Rasiej for Public Advocate campaign has built an impressive site to document potholes around New York City. They are encouraging New Yorkers to take a picture with their cell phone or digital camera, and then send the photo to potholes@wefixnyc.com.

The site itself uses the popular Google Maps API, so you can click on each marked location and view the photos.

So if you’re a New Yorker, take out your Treo next time you see a pothole, and do your bit.
