Scoopt bills itself as “the citizen journalist’s photographic agency”. Scoopt acts as an intermediary in selling mobile phone and digital camera pictures to the press and media.

Anyone who has a digital camera or camera phone (like the Palm Treo 650 smartphone) can submit newsworthy photos to Scoopt. Scoopt then has an exclusive, worldwide 3-month period to sell the photos. If a newspaper, magazine, news organization or other publisher buys the photos, then Scoopt will share the money with you 50/50.

While this may seem like a quick and easy way to make money, I have to wonder whether this will change a lot of attitudes. When an accident happens, would your first instinct be to help, or to first take a photo?
