Engadget has the scoop (and photos) of the long-anticipated Apple iTunes phone - the Motorola E790. The phone is supposed to sound "as good as" a proper iPod, and runs iTunes Mobile software. We already know that this phone will sync with iTunes 4.9.

In hindsight, I feel that this is a loss opportunity for Palm. After all, there are already over a million Treos out in the wild. Each Treo has an iPod-like DPAD, can carry up to 2GB of storage, and of course each can run great MP3 software like Pocket Tunes. Palm should have approached Apple and partnered to bring the iTunes Mobile platform on the Palm family of devices.
